Really? Really? Is it too expensive to be green? I'm a little surprised when people say you can not do anything to be as green products are too expensive. This may have been there for eons case, but not anymore. People say now that going green is too expensive as an excuse for my opinion. Although I am not able to pay solar panels on the roof of my house immediately, but that does not mean I'm not trying to be green or green in my own way.

Here are some simple things you can do now for the first step in the right direction, without much money. Keep in mind that while you can spend the money early, the return of the worthwhile investment for you and the environment.

One of the first things I did to start my own movement in the green house was to buy canvas bags to buy edible. They were $ 1.00 each and bought 10 of them. I always leave in my car and any store that I bring a bag with me. Every time I visit the store, my 5 cents I carry a bag.

So every week when I grocery 50 cents back. Each week, adding quickly, and before you know, I made my $ 10.00 back and am no longer a slave of plastic bags. Consumer Americans use about 100 billion plastic bags each year requiring approximately 12 million barrels to produce! Just think, most of these bags are used only once under 30 minutes, then come into our landfills garbage or end up in our oceans, where they constitute a serious threat to wildlife.

The second green thing I did was change my water bottle. I must admit, is difficult for me until I did the math and when I went to Target to buy a water filter and ordered my CamelBak bottle better.

The funny thing is that people are so quick to complain about the cost of gas, but have never filed a complaint against the cost of bottled water at the grocery store? I paid my $ 10.00 per bottle and $ 30 for my water filter and never returned to the store to buy my 12 pack of water for $ 6.00. And to think, a package of 12 bottles of water in a week or less! Really do not like when people say they recycle their water bottles, plastic …. Do you know the bacteria found in plastic bottles leaching occurs? Please do yourself and the environment a favor and buy a water bottle without BPA today!

Many of us use paper towels daily for lunch and dinner? A time to save a tree! Even napkins recycled materials are not as innocent as they appear in May, because they also end up in landfills. A family of 4 can easily go to 84 paper towels a week and if you think that the costs of each paper towel 2 cents – and added rapidly over a week, month year. Cloth napkins can be used several times before throwing them in the laundry. With a family of four children, Laundry is go ahead and make the transition.

Lastly, wash each load of clothes in cold water? Did you know that if you wash clothes in cold water, the clothes they wear their more water? Not only that, but could save on your electric bill. If not diaper babies or grease stains, cold water is the way forward. 85-90 percent of the energy needed to wash clothes in a machine is used to heat water. Only 10-15 percent are actually in the washer. The next time you need to buy laundry detergent, search detergents made specifically for cold water.

And of course we all know the bulbs and such, but it was a couple of other reminders of what you can do today to start saving money and you can be proud of you to go green! Remember that it is good to be green!
